When does it impact them?
It always will, we all have different tolerance levels but we always change our behavoir to manage pain. How many positions do you get into with a stomach ache? Do you visit the toilet more or want to know you have access to the toilet when you are in pain???
It is in a dogs nature to hide pain, so we need to know and act when we see the subtleties, before the pain impacts them and they have to use aggressive tactics to create distance from their surroundings.
BUT MY DOG CANNOT BE IN PAIN BECAUSE…

..HE IS STILL EATING
Pain can be masked by Adrenaline that is pumped into the dogs system when a dog is excited.
There is no indicator to say that a dog is not in pain – the signs can be soooo subtle.
Never just rule pain out because…
Pain always needs to be considered and if persistent, investigated.
